Mary Shields

Possibly born in Eldon Street

Her son Thomas William (from first marriage) was killed in the war.

Mary went to USA (probably via Canada) and remarried a Klarman who was a widower. Mary then had 2 sons -- the first called Thomas William, as before. Were both of these sons also killed in the war?

Did she then marry a Schultz?

Blacksmith in the village of Boghead, Lesmahagow. - in 1851census employing 1 journeyman (son James a journeyman Smith,later James takes over as Master Smith).
1821 census shows 2 children, a male and female living withJohn and Marion.

By 1861 census he is Master Blacksmith
1871 census he is still unmarried living with brother John andfamily. Also lodging there is Andrew Brown 17 year old Blacksmithsapprentice.
